About time i started to record the knitting patterns i make up for my daughter....
Here is the first of many more to come.
Size:12-18 months
Gauge: 20 sts/4 inches, 4mm needles.
Yarn: Malabrigo Kettle Dyed pure merino wool (color: blue jewel). 2.5 skeins (216 yards/skein)
Materials: 3 stitch holders, 4 mm 16'' (40 cm) circular needles, regular 4 mm needles
Method
Back
Cast on 60 sts.
RS: *Knit 4, purl 2*, repeat * to the end.
WS: *Purl 4, knit 2*, repeat * to the end.
Work in the established rib pattern till the piece measures 4 inches from the cast on, ending with the wrong side.
RS: Knit 2, yarn over, knit 2, purl 2 together
WS: Purl
RS: Knit
Repeat last 2 rows till the piece measure 10 inches or desired length from the cast on, ending with the right side.
Raglan Shaping:
WS: Bind off 3 sts, purl to the end.
RS: Bind off 3 sts, knit to the end
WS: Purl 2 sts together, purl to last 2 sts, slip 1 st at the time knit wise, pass the stitches back to the left needle, purl 2 together.
RS: Knit 2 sts together, knit to last 2 stitches, slip 1 st at the time knit wise, pass the slipped stitches to the left needle, knit 2 together.
WS: Purl
Repeat last 2 rows till you have 27 stitches on the needle, ending with the wrong side.
RS: Knit.
WS: Purl
Repeat last 2 rows 5 more times
Leave stitches on a holder.
Front: knit exactly like a back piece
Sleeves:
Cast on 42 sts.
RS: *Knit 3, purl 3*, repeat * to the end.
WS: *Purl3, knit 3*, repeat * to the end.
Continue in the established rib pattern till the sleeve measures 4 inches, ending with the wrong side.
RS: Knit1, make 1, knit to the last stitch, make 1, knit1.
WS: Purl
RS: Knit.
WS: Purl.
Repeat last 2 rows till the sleeve measures 10 inches from the cast on.
Raglan shaping:
RS: Bind off 3 stitches, knit to the end.
WS: Bind off 3 stitches, purl to the end.
RS: Knit 2 sts together, knit to last 2 stitches, slip 1 st at the time knit wise, pass the slipped stitches to the left needle, knit 2 together.
WS: Purl
Repeat last 2 rows till you have 7 stitches on the needle, ending with the wrong side.
RS: Knit
WS: Purl.
Repeat last 2 rows 5 more times.
Leave stitches on a stitch holder.
Second sleeve, knit stitches to the 4mm 16" circular needle.
Neck:
With the circular needle and 7 stitches form one sleeve on it, knit 27 stitches from one holder, knit 7 stitches from a holder that has sleeve stitches on it, then knit 27 stitches form another holder (68 stitches). Join in a round, place a stitch marker. Knit, make 4 stitches evenly while knitting (72 stitches).
Next round: * Knit 3, purl 3*, repeat * till the marker
Continue in a round till neck measure 2.5-3 inches. Loosely bind off.
Putting Together:
Sew together raglans, then sides, then sleeves.
I-cord:
Cast on 2 stitches.
Knit, do not turn over. *Pass the knitted stitches back to the left needle, knit.*
Repeat * till the I-cord measures the length you desire.
Thread the I-cord through the yarns over in the sweater's body.
Block the sweater.
